Promotional Voice Over for new MotorTrend App
In early 2019, Andy Taylor provided voice over for MotorTrend’s new augmented reality (AR) game app, Car Spotting. The app enables users to “capture” cars with the cameras on their phones and mobile devices.
With over 7-thousand downloads and nearly 78-thousand captures, the app continues to gain popularity with tech savvy MotorTrend subscribers and car enthusiasts the world over.
From MotorTrend: Program Overview
MotorTrend Group is transforming the car viewing experience by developing Car Spotting. A real-world gaming app that utilizes machine-learning and enables your camera to recognize hundreds of cars simply by taking a photo.
Strategic Approach
Debuting at the North American International Auto Show, Car Spotting challenged attendees to hunt for eligible vehicles on the show floor. This allowed them to unlock information, build their own digital auto garages and earn redeemable show rewards.
MotorTrend partnered with Code & Theory for the development of a beta version of the app, which was then tested with the 750,000 car fans at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. Working quickly, the team launched an app that challenged users to find, snap and collect photos of 17 cars at the Auto Show.
MotorTrend also built a robust activation program at the show. This included heavy promotion at their booth, an event activation team, branded signage by the target cars, and tons of great prizing—from t-shirts and a free trial of MotorTrend’s video on demand service, to a “mystery prize” for capturing all the cars.
