About Shoot Out For Autism – From the Woodring Family

For the past eleven years, we have adapted to raising a child with autism. While early intervention and funding research will always be important to us, our personal focus has grown to also include the need for local resources as individuals with autism transition to adulthood in our community. We are proud to announce that this year’s proceeds will be split between Autism Speaks and Nova Center of the Ozarks. Both organizations support the autism community in beneficial ways. Please read the following about each wonderful organization.

Why We Shoot

In 2003, our son, Zachary, was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2. At that time it was challenging to find resources that could offer support. After several years of therapy, Zachary has overcome many challenges, but continues to work hard each day to overcome new obstacles. His struggles, and courage, inspire us to take an active role advocating, spreading awareness, and fundraising. In 2006 we held the first “Shoot Out For Autism”. Our intent is to inspire other outdoorsman and shooting sports enthusiasts to join our cause. We want Zachary, and all individuals affected by autism, to have opportunities that will enrich their lives and make their futures bright. With your support we can help individuals and families affected by autism and other developmental disabilities.
