[14] Madison Keys -14- (USA) def [29] Dominika Cibulkova -35- (SVK) | 61 63

Mess with the bull, you get the horns.

It’s unwise to trade pace with Madison Keys. She will always send the ball back twice as fast. On Monday afternoon, Dominka Cibulkova tried going toe-to-toe with Madison – and it backfired tremendously.

Keys had five break chances before the first changeover, and finished the match converting 4-of-11. Both hit big, Keys just hit bigger – earning 25 winners to Cibulkova’s 7. Madison allowed Dominka a single hold in the first and just two in the second.

Last year’s Finalist will face Carla Suarez Navarro in the Quarterfinals. All three of their previous matches have gone the distance, including their most-recent at the 2016 Summer Games in Rio. Madison won all three.
