Tennis. My Humble Opinion (2017)
In the realm of sport, tennis simply demands more of the athlete. It requires the mental toughness of an elite golfer, along with the physical stamina of a marathoner. There’s no teammate, no time-out, no coach on court calling plays. It is talent versus talent. Belief versus doubt. Endurance versus fatigue. Will versus capitulation. Results rely as much on character as ability, and for that reason alone, I’d argue that the tennis player is the purest athlete, while tennis itself is the truest measure of an athlete’s ability to compete.
