At last season’s World Championship, he made a career-best run to the Final-4 – defeating Omar Mosaad, Richie Fallows, Borja Golan and Saurav Ghosal to reach the Semifinals. And he’s no stranger to success here in Qatar. 2-years-ago, he reached his 1st-career Platinum Semifinal at the 2017 Qatar Classic. Since then, he captured his first Major title at the Tournament of Champions, climbed to a career-high ranking of World #3, and has reached 3 Major Finals – including back-to-back runs to the US Open and Qatar Classic Finals last year. He’s the reigning World Games Gold Medalist, is an 8-time German National Champion, and has reached the season-finale PSA World Tour Finals 6-times. Competing in his 12th PSA World Championship – He is the German Tree Chopper, Simon Rösner.
► Should it happen, a Quarterfinal victory this week would be Simon Rösner’s 300th career match victory on the PSA World Tour.

Declan James -22- (ENG)
He owns 13 PSA titles, is a 21-time Finalist on Tour – and last May, cracked the PSA’s top-15 for the first time. Last year, he lit it up at the start of the season – capturing the title in Nantes, defeating James Willstrop in the championship match. He then reached the Round-of-16 for the first time at 3 of the Platinums, including the US Open, Hong Kong, and right here at the Qatar Classic. His career-best World Championship run came 2-years-ago in Manchester, where he took-out countryman Richie Fallows, then Cesar Salazar to reach the Final-16. From England – competing in his 6th PSA World Championship – Yesterday, down 2-games to love, he came back to defeat Vikram Malhotra to reach today’s Round-2 match. This is Declan James.
