[15] Bianca Andreescu -15- (CAN) def [13] Belina Bencic -12- (SUI)
Match recap from Arthur Ashe Stadium announcer Andy Taylor.
Bianca Andreescu has done it again. Career-firsts keep piling up for the 19-year-old. The first Canadian to reach the US Open Semifinals in 10-years, she battled through former teenage-sensation Belinda Bencic to earn a spot in her first Grand Slam Final.
This is what dreams are made of.
On Saturday Night, Bianca will become the first player since Venus Williams (1997) to reach the championship match in her US Open main draw debut. Time will tell, but with perspective like that – this appears to be the beginning of something very special for Candian tennis.
Andreescu gets 6-time Champion Serena Williams in the Final – a rematch of this Summer’s championship match in Toronto, where Serena retired 4-games into the opening set.
