Okay…this happened during Night-4 of the 2011 US Open – here in Arthur Ashe Stadium. In fact, it happened right below our broadcast booths on the south side of the stadium!
And let me start this off by saying…he’s fine. You can laugh – it’s okay.
I was busy recording some other announcements at the time, but I heard the stadium director and DJ react…so I looked up, and all I saw was a guy in the stairwell with a bloody forehead. Now that I’ve seen the video, I can understand the freaked-out “WHOA!” that came from the room.
It’s New York – it’s the U.S. Open – Night Sessions have an incredibly fun vibe, with celebrities in the suites, tons of free stuff for fans with the US Open fan patrol, and plenty of chances to find yourself up on the big screens here in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Come party with us and be a part of the 2011 U.S. Open…But please, pay attention to your footing should you decide to dance on the landing in front of the stairs…
