Egypt’s Mazen Hesham remains undefeated against former World #9 Daryl Selby. Today’s Round-2, 4-game clash was Hesham and Selby’s first PSA Tour-level meeting. In 2017, they played a Premier League 3rd-Round match that Hesham won in a 4th-game tiebreak.

Mazen Hesham -35- (EGY)

At 24-years-old, he returns to Doha for the first time since 2015, when he made an inspired run to the Semifinals. That year, he upset World #7 Omar Mossad, then current World #2 Ali Farag, and reached his first career Platinum-level Semifinal…without losing a single game. By the end of the year, he jumped to a career-high ranking of #13 in the World. Remarkably, he won 6 PSA titles by his 20th birthday – and now owns 7 titles in 9 championship match appearances. Yesterday, he defeated England’s Chris Simpson in four-games to reach today’s 2nd-Round match. Daryl Selby -21- (ENG)

At 35-years-old, he’s earned some of the biggest wins of his career on this very court. In 2013, he defeated World #3 James Willstrop to reach the Qatar Classic Quarterfinals for the 2nd-time; and in 2016, defeated Cameron “Pistol” Pilley to reach his second career Platinum-level Semifinal. A 22-time Finalist on Tour, he owns 12 PSA titles overall and has been ranked as high as World #9.
