A USHJA Tribute to Hunter of the Year, Private Practice
Since October 2011, the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association has honored the life and legacy of a well-known and respected horseman by recognizing a current equine athlete that exemplifies the qualities of a top-class show hunter.
This prestigious title is awarded each year to the WCHR Hunter of the Year…and its signature trophy, the Peter Wetherill Cup, is presented in tribute to its namesake.
A highly-accomplished horseman, Wetherill is known for his many victories aboard iconic horses such as Junior League, Desert Storm and Hudson.
Wetherill, who passed away in February 2010, is also fondly remembered as an exemplary owner and an equestrian community advocate who supported the WCHR’s philanthropic endeavors from the start.
This year, the USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider Task Force is pleased to award the classic perpetual trophy to Brad Wolf as the owner of the WCHR Program’s Hunter of the Year, Private Practice.
After debuting in the Hunter ring during the 2018 WCHR Week at the Winter Equestrian Festival, the 9-year-old chestnut Holsteiner gelding made an indelible mark in the Hunter ring.
Ridden by Victoria Colvin and trained by Tom Wright – Private Practice claimed either a championship or a reserve championship at virtually every 2018 competition he contested.
Including the [3’9”] three-nine Green Hunter Championship at Devon, the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship, and the Pennsylvania National [3’9”] three-nine Green Hunter Championship.
Aptly nicknamed “Peter” in the barn, Private Practice becomes the eighth horse recognized with the Peter Wetherill Cup, joining some of the country’s most decorated Hunters.
With congratulations, the WCHR presents the 2018 Peter Wetherill Cup to Private Practice and owner Brad Wolf.
