Congratulations to Devin from Aurora and Tabitha from Neosho, both claimed the top-score at Friday’s Best Bagger Semifinal at Price Cutter Plus in Joplin. In the final “bag-off,” Devin edged Tabitha for Friday’s cash prize, but it appears both will compete in the Price Cutter Final pror to the Springfield Cardinals game at Hammons Field on June 19th.
Special thanks to Pyramid Foods HR Associate Ryan Davis and Ciara Hutchison from Labor and Operations for coordinating Friday’s competition. Both made it fun and entertaining, and even competed against each other during one of the rounds. You’ll have to ask them about their scores, seeing as they were their own scorekeepers – but it appears that they were fairly marking deductions. (Right!) Thanks as well to all of the participants, many of whom traveled from distant stores with $3.97 gas in the tank.
After the event at Hammons Field, the top-2 Price Cutter baggers will go on to compete in the Missouri Grocer’s Association’s statewide competition at Branson Landing. The winner there receives $750 and a trip to Las Vegas for the National Grocer’s Association Best Bagger Competition. The top bagger in Vegas will win $10,000 and appear on the Late Show with David Letterman. What a cool opportunity!
Congrats to all of the top-scorers in the regional semifinals. Best of luck this Summer. Hope to see you in Vegas come February!
