Andy Murray and Serena Williams both win epic Finals in the decider
The 2012 US Open -- He's finally done it. Of course, the British media won't cut him any slack until he wins the Wimbledon Championships, but Andy Murray has finally won his debut Grand Slam, defeating Novak Djokovic in an epic 5-set thriller. Not a bad way to consolidate the Gold Medal win over Roger Federer last month in the London Games.
On the ladies side, Serena Williams hoisted the US Open trophy for the fourth time, defeating Victoria Azarenka; Serena's 15th career Grand Slam title.
Bob and Mike Bryan won their 4th US Open title; Grand Slam #12 for the twins…while the Italian team of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci earned their second Grand Slam title with a win over the Czechs Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.
In Mixed Doubles, Ekaterina Makarova and Bruno Soares each won their first Grand Slam Mixed Doubles title, defeating Kveta Peschke and Marcin Matkowski [12-10] in a Championship Tie-Break.
