Great effort from Jim Courier’s Team USA in Fribourg this weekend, taking down Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka, winning the first three Davis Cup rubbers – sweeping the Swiss.
Yesterday, Mardy Fish won a 5-setter over Stan, and in under three hours, John Isner defeated Roger Federer. Today, in doubles – Mardy Fish played in place of the originally scheduled Ryan Harrison, and he and Mike Bryan took down Stan and Roger in four sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3).
With this win on the road, Team USA will be back at it in April for the quarterfinals against the winner of this weekend’s Canada vs. France Tie (Currently tied at 1-all in Vancouver).
Congrats to Jim, Mike, Mardy, John and Ryan – that was one hell of a mountain to climb this weekend, and they made it look easy. Great game plan – great focus – more cowbell!
