A USHJA Tribute to Innovator Louise Serio
The Kavar Kerr Perpetual Trophy is awarded annually by the WCHR Task Force to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and commitment to the World Championship Hunter Rider Program’s philanthropic efforts.
Nearly three decades ago, one of the most decorated hunter riders in the country had a vision for changing the sport.
Enlisting a new friend and fellow horseman Geoff Teal the two embarked on a journey to create a new showcase for the hunter discipline.
Louise Serio’s innovative ideas evolved a new way to qualify hunters contesting the top of the sport and the WCHR became one of the most successful modern show Hunter programs.
Today’s WCHR Peter Weatherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular began in 1997 as a fundraiser for the newly formed American Hunter-Jumper Foundation and stands today as a cornerstone for the flourishing Hunter sport.
