MENS SINGLES
In the quarterfinals, Novak Djokovic had no problem with Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga, who had an epic (25-23) third-set, second-round battle with Milos Raonic. Novak beat the Frenchman in two (6-1, 7-5).
Andy Murray advanced easily with a (6-4, 6-1) win over Nicolas Almagro.
John Isner drew Roger Federer in the quarters, and lost in a second set tie-break (4-6, 6-7)
Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro advanced over Kei Nishikori (6-4, 7-6)
Friday’s semifinal matches feature Andy Murray vs. Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer vs. Juan Martin del Potro.
WOMENS SINGLES
On the ladies side, Victoria Azarenka reached the semifinals with a (6-4, 7-5) win over Germany’s Angelique Kerber, who defeated Venus Williams in two 3rd-round tie-break sets.
Russia’s Maria Kirilenko downed Petra Kvitova (7-6, 6-3) to advance.
Serena Williams had no trouble with Caroline Wozniacki (6-0, 6-3)
Maria Sharapova was unstoppable against Kim Clijsters, winning the quarterfinal (6-2, 7-5)
Serena will face her toughest opponent yet in Victoria Azarenka in the semi’s, while the “Russian Marias” will face-off in the other semifinal.
MENS DOUBLES
In Men’s Doubles, the Bryan Brothers are into the semifinals beating Israelis Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram in two tie-break sets.
David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez advanced over Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig (6-4, 6-4).
Frenchmen Julien Benneteau and Richard Gasquet defeated the Serbs Janko Tipsarevic and Ninad Zimonjic (6-4, 6-7)
Frenchmen Michael Llodra and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga easily handled Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares of Brazil (6-4, 6-2)
The Bryans will face Benneteau and Gasquet in the semifinals, while Tsonga and Llodra will face Ferrer and Lopez.
WOMENS DOUBLES
In Women’s Doubles, Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond advanced to the semifinals with a (6-3, 6-3) win over Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina.
Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic easily advanced (6-3, 6-4) over Su-Wei Hsieh and Chia-Jung Chuang of Chinese Taipei…the Czechs will play Liezel and Lisa in the semifinals
Serena and Venus Willliams easily defeated Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci of Italy (6-1, 6-1) and will play Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova of Russia in the semifinals, who beat Shuai Peng and Jie Zheng of China in three sets…
MIXED DOUBLES
And the Mixed Doubles competition is underway, Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka of Belarus defeated Phillip Petzchner and Angelique Kerber (6-2, 6-2) in the first round…to advance to the quarterfinals.
Lisa Raymond and Mike Bryan are into the quarters with a (7-5, 6-3) win over Sara Errani and Andreas Seppi of Italy.
Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan lost a heart-breaker to Sabine Lisicki and Christopher Kas of Germany (6-7, 7-6…then 10-5 in the tie-break)
Gisela Dulko and Juan Martin del Potro advanced over Mikhail Youzhny and Elena Vesnina (6-3, 7-5).
Sam Stosur and Lleyton Hewitt beat Poland’s Agneiszka Radwanska and Marcin Matkowski (6-3, 6-3)
Roberta Vinci and Daniele Bracciali moved on with a split-set tie-break win over Sweden’s Sofia Arvidsson and Robert Lindstedt.
Sania Mirza and Leander Paes of India beat Ana Ivanovic and Nenad Zimonjioc of Serbia (6-2, 6-4)
Andy Murray and Laura Robson beat Radek Stepanek and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic in a tough match (7-5, 6-7 – then won the tie-break)
