VENUS WILLIAMS JUST WITHDREW FROM THE 2011 U.S. OPEN
Okay…basically, here’s how I put the announcement on center court here at Arthur Ashe Stadium:
“Unfortunately – Due to illness, Venus Williams has informed the tournament referee that she has withdrawn from the 2011 U.S. Open; therefore Germany’s Sabine Lisicki advances to the 3rd round with a walkover.”
We’ve moved the Irina Falconi vs. Dominika Cibulkova match into Arthur Ashe Stadium for Day-Session ticket holders…
