Rio 2016: Let the Games Begin

Voice Over Andy Taylor. Rio 2016. Let the Games Begin

Low budget Opening Ceremonies? I certainly couldn’t tell. Between the fireworks, special effects and moving stage sets – I would’ve assumed Rio spent a fortune. For a city struggling with recession and political instability – on a Friday night in August of 2016, Cariocas showed the world where they’ve been, cast hope for where they’re going, and offered a genuine, warm welcome to 207 delegations from across the planet. With the eyes of the world upon it, Rio is set to put aside it’s frustration with corruption, and for 17 days embody the Olympic values that are already ingrained in its internal narrative: excellence, respect and friendship.
