An Action Packed Final Four Days

As you can imagine, with all the rain we’ve had at the 2011 US Open, it is a mad scramble to get the tournament completed. As I write, on a Friday Night in Flushing, we’ve completed two Men’s Singles Quarterfinal matches. Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray both won their matches over Andy Roddick and John Isner, and will play each other tomorrow in the Semifinals.

I’m happy to see young Americans Melanie Oudin and Jack Sock in the Mixed Doubles Final (on the court now) facing Gisela Dulko and Eduardo Schwank from Argentina. The Americans just won the first set in a tiebreak – its a shame so many fans and media have bailed!

Tomorrow will start at Noon with Federer vs. Djokovic – then the Nadal vs. Murray match. We then begin the night session, where we’ll play both Women’s Singles Semifinal Matches. The Caroline Wozniacki vs. Serena Williams match will be played here on Arthur Ashe Stadium, while the Samantha Stosur vs. Angelique Kerber match will be played on the Grandstand Court. Immediately following the Wozniacki vs. Williams match, Ashe will host the Men’s Doubles Final with Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner vs. Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski.

Now, for some lighter fare – I want to thank my older brother and his family for coming down from Boston to visit me and my wife Dionne while we’re in New York. I’m glad they had a great time while in the City and here at the Open…while I worked. Notice I said “older” brother…yet he’s the one on the right in the photo…and the one with more hair. Nice.

Something else you might enjoy…a true story that happened during my broadcast from here at the US Open on the KTTS Morning Show today. I believe the burns are starting to heal…enjoy!
